FRESNO, Calif. – Katie Fugit scored three times, Lizette Perez and Kira O'Donell had two goals apiece, and Grace Ramirez posted 12 blocks to lead California Baptist to an 8-5 win over Santa Clara women's water polo in Saturday's consolation bracket action at the Golden Coast Conference Championship.
Two scoring flurries from the Lancers (15-17) proved to the difference.
They erased a 2-1 deficit with four straight goals in the second period capped by O'Donell's strike with 22 seconds left before halftime.
After Eldredge scored on a 5-meter attempt 15 seconds into the fourth quarter to draw the Broncos within 5-3, Perez answered 23 seconds later with a goal then Fugit and Maddie Meza added insurance markers within the next two minutes.
Ramirez, who turned aside four shots in the fourth quarter, picked up the win in net for the Lancers who will face Azusa Pacific in Sunday's fifth-place game.
Lydia Dadd suffered the loss for the Broncos despite eight saves.
Santa Clara went just 1-for-10 with the extra attacker.
The Broncos face Concordia on Sunday at 9:15 a.m. in the seventh-place game of the tournament.
