SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Morgan Molloy and Marialena Seletopoulou had three goals each for Loyola Marymount, which used a fast start to down Santa Clara women's water polo, 8-4, on Friday.
The Lions (17-8, 3-1) scored the first four goals of the game and never trailed in the Golden Coast Conference matchup.
Hana Vilanova had one and two assists for LMU, which posted its 12th win in the last 13 games.
Hannah Buck had two goals, both in the fourth period, for the Broncos (8-13, 1-3) who were only 2-for-9 with the extra attacker.
Molley scored just more than 20 seconds into the game and when she recorded her second goal, the lead grew to 4-0 early in the second quarter.
The Broncos seemed to get some life in the second period when they responded to an LMU goal with one by Maggie Oys to make it 4-1. However, Malloy countered 14 seconds later with her third goal.
Sky Flores picked up the win in net with 10 saves for the Lions who were 3-for-7 on the power play.
