Women’s Water Polo Set for Saturday's Santa Clara Invitational

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – After opening the season with nine games in a row off campus, Santa Clara women's water polo will finally get to enjoy some home cooking on Saturday.

The Broncos (3-6) will serve as hosts for three games in the Santa Clara Invitational, including a matchup with Cal State Monterey Bay at 9 a.m. and UC Davis at 4 p.m. The Otters (2-5) and Aggies (6-8) will face off at 12:30 p.m. in Sullivan Aquatic Center.

"We've had a lot of road games to start the season so we are very excited to play our first two home games this Saturday," Santa Clara head coach Keith Wilbur. "It is always great to play in front of our home crowd."

On Saturday, Hailey Eberle scored three times and posted three assists, and Annie Eldredge registered three goals, two assists and a career-high six steals to lead the Broncos to a 13-8 road win against Sonoma State.

One game after going 1-for-12 with the man advantage in an 8-6 loss to Pomona Pitzer, Santa Clara went 6 of 12 against the Seawolves.

"Our team has been doing a great job of earning ejections so increasing our success rate on 6-on-5 will do a lot for our offense," Wilbur said.

Hannah Buck, Emma Allegrucci, Annie Eldredge, Lauren Paxton and Hailey Eberle have started all nine games.
• Eldredge, who earned Golden Coast Conference Player of the Week on Thursday, leads the league with 19 assists. She also has a team-high 13 steals.
• Eberle leads the team in scoring with 16 goals, Buck is second (15) and Eldredge third (13). Buck has a team-high 21 earned ejections and Allegrucci is second with 16.
