SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University women's water polo team had 11 student-athletes named to the 2007 All-Academic team by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches. The ACWPC broke the student-athletes into three categories, Outstanding (3.75-4.0 GPA), Superior (3.40-3.75 GPA) and Excellent (3.20-3.40). Super Junior Kaylie Pezzuto led the way with a 3.77 cumulative grade point average and was the only member of the team named Outstanding.

Junior Elizabeth Perry, freshman Keely Baldwin and junior Emily Bonk all earned Superior status, while juniors Kendra Betke, Christie Miller, senior Kellie Dunn, freshmen Kathryn Fraser and Meg Zimmerman and sophomores Amy Lamb and Kirstin Olson were named Excellent.

"I am very proud of the fact that we had 11 players on the 2007 ACWPC Women's All Academic Team," said head coach Keith Wilbur. "Academic excellence is a top priority for student-athletes at Santa Clara, and I believe the players on our team have done a great job of excelling in the class room while also striving to do their best at their sport. It is great to see 11 athletes and our team recognized for this by the ACWPC."

The Broncos had another strong season in 2007, finishing 22-14 overall and 16-5 in the Western Water Polo Association. The team placed fourth in the WWPA and ended the year with a No. 16 ranking nationally.
