SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Kathya Garcia and Lena Bondar each had nine kills to lead a balanced attack for San Francisco, which upended Santa Clara volleyball 25-22, 25-19, 25-23 on Friday in Leavey Center.
Marjolijn Oskam had eight kills and Emily Zinger chipped in six for the Dons (9-19, 2-15 WCC), who hit a match-best .353 in the third set when they were able to hold off the Bronco attempt to extend the contest on their senior day.
Taylor Odom had a match-best 10 kills and Kamrin Caoili tallied nine for Santa Clara (6-23, 1-16 WCC), which had chances to claim each set, including the opener when it lost despite outhitting the Dons .357 to .276.
Playing in her final home match, Odom had a perfect 1.000 attack percentage. Tatiana San Juan was the other graduating player on the current roster. That duo was recognized prior to the match, along with Hailey Lindberg, who stepped away from volleyball prior to the season due to injury.
The Broncos trailed by as many as six points in the opening set before twice pulling within one point, but a service error by the Broncos and an ace from Garcia closed it out.
The third set had three lead changes and 10 ties, but San Francisco took advantage of three late Bronco errors and got kills from Erin Anthony, who had 21 assists and eight digs, and Bodnar, to seal a season sweep of Santa Clara.
