SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara softball concludes tournament play at the Matador Classic in Northridge. The Broncos will take on Georgia Tech Saturday at 2:45 p.m. and again Sunday at 10 a.m. They wrap-up the weekend Sunday at 12:45 p.m. vs. Cal Poly.
Santa Clara picked up a 9-3 win over Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday at the NorCal Challenge, setting a season-high in runs scored. The Broncos lost twice each to UC Davis and Sacramento State in the their other four games.
Taylor Burns leads the Broncos (4-21) with a .270 batting average and 14 RBIs. She has added four doubles, a triple, and a home run to go with six runs scored. Hannah Russell is hitting .254 with 10 RBIs and three doubles. Ellie Fisher leads the team with 12 runs scored and 12 stolen bases in 15 attempts.
Micaela Vierra has tossed a team-high 59 2/3 innings in 18 games, including 10 starts with three complete games and one shutout. Aubree Kim has appeared in 17 games made 12 starts with one complete game. In 56 innings she has fanned a team-high 36, including a career-high nine against Fairleigh Dickinson Saturday. McCall James has appeared in 12 games and started three while tossing a complete game. She has pitched a total of 31 1/3 innings.
