The homestanding St. Mary’s College Gaels swept a Saturday afternoon doubleheader over PCSC rival Santa Clara University. Game scores went 5-4 (8 innings) and 9-3; with SCU leading Game One in the seventh inning and Game Two being tied 3-3 in the sixth.

Santa Clara softball won its conference opener 4-3 over Cal State Bakersfield Saturday afternoon on the road. Cleanup hitter, junior centerfielder Briana Knight, went 3-for-3, hitting her fourth homerun of the season and senior pitcher Jenna Fong went the distance to win her fourth game.
