SANTA CLARA, Calif. – For the second year in a row, Santa Clara women's soccer will get a tune-up before the regular season with the Red and White Scrimmage. The intrasquad matchup will take place Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Stevens Stadium with free admission.

After a making a run to the third round of the NCAA Tournament a year ago, the Broncos return most of their starters and important reserves in addition to some talented freshmen. In 2017, Santa Clara finished 1th nationally with 2.2 goals per game and led the West Coast conference with 51 goals, 37 assists, and 139 points.
WCC Freshman of the Year Kelsey Turnbow finished second in the league with 13 goals, five game-winners, and 31 points. Maddie Gonzalez also returns after scoring 10 goals. Maria Sanchez tied for the conference lead with six assists and added five goals as well while Julie Doyle is back after scoring eight goals despite missing the final five and a half games with an injury.
In net, senior Melissa Lowder looks to finish her Bronco career on a high note. Last year she made 69 saves and had a .734 save percentage.
The regular season opens Aug. 17 at San Jose State with the home-opener coming Aug. 20 against Cal.
FOR FANS: Admission to the scrimmage is free with general admission seating. There will be no concessions or merchandise available. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. The Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour before kickoff. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located adjacent to Stevens Stadium on Palm Drive.
