SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Continuing a stretch of three weeks on the road, Santa Clara women's soccer travels to reigning national champions No. 12 USC Friday at 2:30 p.m. for a match on Pac-12 Network.
Last week, the Broncos played No. 23 Michigan and Notre Dame at the Notre Dame Invitational. The Broncos tied with the Wolverines but fell to the Irish.
Santa Clara is 2-5 all-time against USC with the first meeting coming in 1987. Last season, the Broncos opened the year with a 3-2 overtime win over the then-No. 11 Trojans.
Santa Clara (2-3-1) has scored nine goals on the season while putting 34 of its 74 shots on target. The Broncos have drawn 35 corner kicks while allowing just 19.
Maria Sanchez leads the team with seven points. She leads the Broncos with three assists and is tied for the team lead with two goals. Julie Doyle and Maddy Gonzalez each have two goals as well. Kelsey Turnbow has scored once and added two assists while Kellie Peay has a goal and an assist. Myah Baksh has found the back of the net once.
Melissa Lowder has played four games in net and Courtney Ogren has played two. Lowder has made 19 saves for a .633 save percentage. Ogren has made five saves and has a .714 save percentage.
USC (2-1) has outscored its opponents 5-3 and holds a 54-22 edge in shots. The Trojans have wins over UC Davis at home and at Missouri with their loss coming at Kansas.
Alex Anthony leads the team with four goals and two points. Tara McKeown has scored a goal and has an assist. Savannah DeMelo and Arlie Jones both have scored once and four others have one assist each.
Kayle Collins has allowed three goals for a 1.00 GAA. She has five saves and a .625 save percentage to go with one shutout.
