SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's golf gets one final tuneup before the West Coast Conference championship, competing in the 18-team Wyoming Cowgirl Classic starting Monday. The Broncos tee it up for 54 holes of golf over two days at the 6,131-yard, par-72 Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Ariz.

The Broncos will look to carry over the momentum of a strong finish at the Fresno State Classic where they had the second- and third-lowest rounds in program history over the final 36 holes to snare third-place with an 870 total.

"We've been playing well, so hopefully that momentum and confidence will carry over," head coach Krystal Kelly said. "As long as they stay patient we should play well."

Aiding in the scoring was the stellar play of the top three players in the lineup.

Sophomores Sarah Busey, Emily Sumner and freshman Claire Choi will play out of the top three spots in the lineup with each coming off a top-10 finish at the Fresno State Classic.

Busey matched the program record with a 67 in the final round to finish solo third with a personal-best 54-hole score of 212. Sumner scored below par in the final two rounds and placed in a tie for sixth. Choi placed in a tie for ninth at 1-over 217.

The Broncos will field the same five team members with junior Marni Murez and freshman Duong Tran completing the squad.

Santa Clara has enjoyed success at this event with two runner-up showings and four top 5s in the last four years.

"We know this course well and we will try to use that knowledge to help the freshmen," Kelly noted. "One of the challenges will definitely be the heat. We haven't played in extreme heat in some time."

Teams and individuals will play 36 holes on Monday with a shotgun start format at 7:30 a.m. PT. Live scoring updates will be available at Golfstat.com
