KAPALUA, Maui – Santa Clara women's golf scored a 305 on Tuesday to fall into a tie for sixth-place with a team total of 608 after two rounds of the Anuenue Spring Break Classic.
The Broncos were led by senior Kristin Le, who carded the team's lowest score for the second consecutive day. Le's second-round 2-over 74 left her in a tie for sixth-place on the individual leaderboard at 1-over 145. She's five-shots behind Louisville's Lauren Hartlage, who will take a 1-shot lead into Wednesday's final round.
"Kristin played great again today," head coach Krystal Kelly said.
Every team ahead of the Broncos on the team leaderboard bettered their first round score, leaving Santa Clara nine-shots behind fifth-place UC Davis. Tournament host Hawai'i leads the field by two-strokes with a 579 total.
"We didn't play our best today, but fortunately tomorrow is moving day," Kelly added. "We start and finish on the harder nine tomorrow, so they will need to stay patient."
Sophomore Chloe Wong scored a second-round 3-over 75, a two-shot improvement on her first-round score, but she dropped five spots on the leaderboard into a tie for 33rd at 8-over 152.
In between her teammates is freshman Emily Sumner, who carded a second-round 80 to finish the day tied for 52nd at 157.
Final round play on the 6,022-yard, par-72 Kapalua Bay Course is set to begin with a shotgun format at 10:45 a.m. PT. Live scoring is available at Golfstat.com.
