SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara beach volleyball plays its second and final home dual of the 2019 season on Tuesday afternoon. The Broncos host crosstown rival San José State for a 4 p.m. first serve at the SCU Beach Volleyball Courts.
The Broncos (2-7) face an opponent from outside the West Coast Conference for the first time since their season-opening tilt.
Santa Clara dropped a 4-1 decision against No. 18 Saint Mary's on Saturday. Chloe Loreen/Alex Anthony claimed the first pairs match for the Broncos in five tries against a ranked opponent this season with a 24-22, 13-21, 15-13 victory at No. 3. They have a team-high four match wins on the season.
San José State (10-7) enters Tuesday's match on the heels of its longest layoff of the season. The Spartans have won five of their last six duals, most recently scoring a sweep of Portland on March 31. Julia Golbeck/Sarah Smevog are a team-best 15-2 overall and 13-1 at the No. 5 position.
Admission to beach volleyball matches at Santa Clara is free. There will be light, single-row bleacher seating available that is first come, first served. Spectators are encouraged to bring their own chairs. See the map below for court location (outlined in green on left).
