Women's Basketball Concludes Road Trip at BYU Saturday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball concludes a three-game road trip at BYU Saturday at 1 p.m. Pacific.

On Thursday, the Broncos fell at Saint Mary's 59-46.

Santa Clara is 2-14 all-time against BYU. Last year the Broncos topped the Cougars for the first time since 1998 at home but fell in Provo.

Santa Clara (5-11, 1-4 WCC) continues to have the best defense in the West Coast Conference, allowing just 57.2 points per game. The Broncos force 17.1 turnovers per game and collect a conference-high 9.7 steals per game as well.

Ashlyn Herlihy, who has missed the last two games with injury, leads the team in scoring with 9.6 ppg and adds 5.1 rpg. Morgan McGwire pulls down a team-leading 8.6 rpg and is second in scoring with 9.5 ppg. McGwire is second in the conference in blocks with 1.8 pg and leads Santa Clara with 2.3 spg. Kyla Martin leads the Broncos with 4.6 assists per game and adds 9.2 ppg. Taylor Berry is second in rebounding with 6.8 pg and scores 8.1 ppg.

BYU (9-7, 4-1 WCC) has won three in a row and five of six. The Cougars shoot 41.5-percent from the field and 31.4-percent from beyond the arc while scoring 68.2 ppg.

The offense gets over 60-percent of its points from a trio of double-digit scorers. Cassie Devashrayee leads the conference with 18.6 ppg and leads the team with 103 free throws made and 129 attempted. She plays a league-high 38.4 minutes per game while adding 5.0 rebounds and leads the team with 4.7 apg. Brenna Chase scores 11.8 ppg and has knocked down a team-high 30 3-pointers. Malia Nawahine scores 11.3 ppg with 5.9 rpg.
