SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball begins a three-game road trip Saturday at Portland at 2 p.m.
On Thursday, the Broncos fell to LMU at home in their final game in Leavey Center for two weeks.
Santa Clara is 42-30 all-time against Portland with the first meeting coming in 1986-87. The Broncos have won eight in a row in the series, dating back to the 2013-14 season.
Santa Clara (4-10, 0-3 WCC) holds opponents to a league-best 58.1 points per game while forcing 16.8 turnovers per game and picking up 9.4 steals per game.
Morgan McGwire leads the team in scoring (9.9 ppg), rebounding (8.7 pg), and steals (2.3 pg) and leads the conference in blocks (1.9 pg). Kyla Martin leads the Broncos with 4.6 assists per game and is second in scoring with 9.6 ppg. Ashlyn Herlihy is scoring 9.6 ppg with 5.1 rpg and Taylor Berry adds 7.9 ppg and 6.4 rpg.
Portland (4-10, 0-3 WCC) has lost six in a row and 10 of 11 after starting the season 3-0. The Pilots are shooting 41.2-percent from the field and 28.7-percent from beyond the arc while scoring 69.1 ppg.
Julie Spencer leads Portland with 13.4 ppg on 48.4-percent shooting from the field. Spencer also grabs a team-high 6.6 rpg. Darian Slaga scores 12.4 ppg and Kate Andersen adds 9.9. Rachelle Ownes dishes out a team leading 3.8 apg while scoring 5.1 ppg.
