Men’s Tennis Cruises Past San Francisco

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's tennis claimed three singles matches in straight sets and cruised to a 4-0 win against San Francisco on Saturday.

Connor Garnett, Robert Seby and Santiago Hinojosa were victorious in singles for the Broncos (13-6, 4-3 West Coast Conference) who snapped a two-match skid.

Seby had the clincher in both singles and doubles. He defeated Phuc Huynh of San Francisco 6-2, 6-1 on court No. 4 shortly after teaming with Andrew Gu to take down Huynh and Oz Daniel 7-6(5) at No. 1 doubles.

At No. 2 singles, Garnett knocked off Paul Giraud 6-1, 6-4 and on court six, David Woodland of USF (3-14, 0-7) was dispatched by Hinojosa by the same score.

Gu led Ryan Marker of San Francisco 6-1, 5-2 at No. 1 singles when the match concluded.

The Dons, who lost their ninth-straight match, had a chance to claim the doubles point.

Marker and Giraud downed Vasileios Iliopoulos and Arthur Neuhaus 6-4 on court two, but Garnett teamed with Kamran Khan to defeat Romeo Midtgaard Jivr and Nitzan Ricklis of San Francisco 6-3 at the No. 3 position to equal the doubles score.

The Broncos face Cal Poly on Sunday at 11 a.m.
