MORAGA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's tennis and Saint Mary's finally played its conference match on Thursday after two rain postponements as the Broncos won, 5-1 under threatening skies at the Timothy Korth Tennis Complex.
Santa Clara (12-4, 3-2 WCC) dropped the doubles point before stringing together five consecutive singles wins, including simultaneous wins on courts five and two to amass five points.
But it was all Santa Clara there on after, winning each of the five singles matches in straight sets.
Andrew Gu deposed of James Watt, 7-5, 7-3 on court one before the simultaneous wins by Arthur Neuhaus over Krutik, 6-3, 6-3 on court five and Garnett over Abhishek Bastola, 6-4, 6-2 on court two to clinch the team victory.
The match was originally slated for March 22 but rescheduled to April 2 before another postponement pushed it to Thursday due to rain.
The Broncos travel to play a nonconference match against San Diego State on Saturday, followed by a key conference match with San Diego on Sunday.
