Men’s Tennis Defeats Fresno State, 4-3 on Saturday
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's tennis defeated Fresno State, 4-3 to avenge last season's loss to the Bulldogs on a sunny Saturday afternoon at Degheri Tennis Center.  
With Santa Clara (8-3) leading 3-2, Jesus Tapiador Barajas clinched the match for the Broncos with a 6-2, 7-6 (9-7) win over Angus Bradshaw on court two as the Broncos remained a perfect 5-0 at home this season.  
In doubles, Santa Clara (8-3) dropped the first match but came back to win the next two matches with the clincher on court three as Vasileios Iliopoulos and Arthur Neuhaus defeated Cem Erturk and Zdenek Derkas, 6-3. 
Fresno State (10-8) evened the match at 1-all when Cem Erturk beat Connor Garnett, 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 on court three. 
The Broncos then pulled ahead 3-1 on wins by Robert Seby and Arthur Neuhaus.  
Seby won 6-2, 6-2 against Cagatay Soke in the No. 5 spot and Neuhaus prevailed 6-3, 6-2 over Henrique Osorio at the No. 6 spot.  Seby extended his dual match win streak to eight matches in the process.  
The Bulldogs closed to within a point when Zdenek Derkas beat Andrew Gu, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 before Tapiador Barajas clinched the win for Santa Clara.  
Tapiador Barajas earned his team-high 17th win of the 2018-19 season and his third straight dual match season singles win.  
The Broncos host Marquette on Sunday at 10 a.m. in the final tune up before playing four consecutive WCC matches.
