Bronco goalkeeper Larry Jackson, the 2012 West Coast Conference Goalkeeper of the Year, is working out with the Colorado Rapids as its third goalkeeper the team announced on April 11, 2013.

"We are very excited for the opportunity that Larry has earned," said Bronco goalkeeper coach Eric Yamamoto.  "He is a great student of the game and is committed to improving every day.  His consistent improvement and hunger to learn has gotten him to this point and we think that his best days are still ahead of him."

The Rapids search for a short term third goalkeeper continues on Thursday with the arrival of Larry Jackson, who starred at Santa Clara University and went undrafted following the MLS Combine in January. Jackson, who was named the 2012 West Coast Conference Goalkeeper of the Year, joined training Thursday morning at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

The club had recently worked out former Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Kyle Reynish and Arsenal FC's James Shea, however neither remains with the team.

"Shea has gone back to London, but we're keeping the door open for him with our window being open until the first week of May," Rapids technical director Paul Bravo told on Wednesday. "We presented an option for him to be with us, short term, but I think he's looking for something a little bit more longer term."

Last week the club also parted ways with Reynish, though Bravo says the staff hasn't discarded the possibility of bringing him back.

With only two goalkeepers - Clint Irwin and Stew Ceus - on the roster following the injury to Matt Pickens, Bravo said the team has the ability to call in one of the League pool-goalkeepers in the event of an emergency. Former Cleveland State University goalkeeper Brad Stuver, who was drafted 32nd overall in the SuperDraft by Montreal, was signed by MLS as a pool-goalkeeper and trains regularly with the Columbus Crew.
