SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's soccer squad concluded its participation in the USF/Diadora Classic with a 2-0 win over Harvard University Sunday afternoon at Negoesco Stadium on the USF campus.

Santa Clara (5-3-1) played a man down for most of the game after sophomore Zach Knight was assessed a red card early in the first half. Despite being a man down, the Broncos held the Crimson in check and headed into halftime with the score knotted at zero having allowed only four Harvard shots.

The second half belonged to the Broncos, outshooting Harvard (6-3-1) by an 11-2 margin, including two shots that found the back of the net off senior Jamil Walker's foot. The first came with less than 18 minutes to play as Walker took a free kick from the upper right portion of the circle atop the penalty box and slid it into the upper left corner of the goal for his fifth of the year.

Walker followed that up with his sixth goal of the year just five minutes later off a rebounded shot from six yards out. The rebounded shot came off the goalkeeper's hands when Kelechi Igwe's shot was too hot to hold on to. The six goals on the year sets a new career-high for Walker in a season, surpassing his previous high of four that he scored during the first four games of the 2000 season.

Steve Cronin notched his second shutout of the season, but it was his front four that deserved much of the credit. Sophomore Ryan Cochrane and freshmen Ryan Wolfe, Michael Weiland and Ronnie Magsaysay helped anchor the Bronco defense who was a player short for most of the contest. The defense allowed only six Harvard shots and set many defensive traps that forced the Crimson to be called offsides 12 times.

Santa Clara returns home on Thursday to face San Diego State at 7:30 p.m. in Buck Shaw Stadium before heading back out on the road to open its West Coast Conference season with a match against Portland at 2:15 p.m.
