Men's Golf In Fifth Place After Day 1 At SCU Invite

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - After the first two rounds of the 2008 Santa Clara Men's Golf Invitational, the Broncos sit in fifth place with a team score of 600.Competing this week for SCU is senior Jonathan Keane, juniors Jimmy Cacho, Alex Bon and Shaun Pienkos, and freshman Cory Mehl.

Sophomore Tyler Ichikawa and freshmen Danny Cacho and Alberto Latta competed as individuals.

Ichikawa is currently in fifth place with a two round score of 142/E. His low round of the day was a 67 in the second outing. Keane is tied for eighth at three-over-par with a score of 145 (71-74).

The current individual leader is Mitchell Gregson from Kansas State. He is 11-under with a score of 131 (67-64). The team leader is South Dakota State with a score of 566.

The third and final round of the SCU Invite begins with a shotgun start on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 8 a.m. at Silver Creek Valley Country Club in San Jose.
