Men's Golf Finishes 15th At Windon Invitational

    GLENVIEW, Ill. - The Santa Clara men's golf team took 15th place at the Windon Invitational hosted by Northwestern University on Oct. 5-6. The event was held at the North Shore Country Club in Glenview, Ill.

    Senior Jonathan Keane, junior Jimmy Cacho, sophomore Tyler Ichikawa and freshmen Ronnald Monaco and Cory Mehl represented the Broncos in the event, with Cacho and Keane posting top-50 finishes. Santa Clara competed against Illinois, Indiana, Tulsa, Kent State, Purdue, Michigan, Missouri, Marquette, Coastal Carolina, Colorado, New Mexico, San Jose State, Liberty and host-Northwestern.

    Cacho ended the event tied for 32nd with a final score of 220/+7. The Green Valley, Calif., native posted back-to-back rounds of 72 in the second and third outings. Keane tied for 46th overall with a final score of 224/+11. His lowest performance came in the second round. At the end of the second round, both Cacho and Keane were tied for 37th at six over par.

    The Broncos will take a two-week hiatus and return to the greens on Oct. 20-21 for the Santa Clara Invitational at Silver Creek Valley Country Club in San Jose, Calif.
