Men's Golf Finishes Fifth At Palmas Del Mar

THE FLAMBOYAN, PUERTO RICO - Junior Jimmy Cacho skyrocketed from tied for 35th to a tied for 11th place finish at the Palmas Del Mar Intercollegiate hosted by St. John's University. In the final round of play, Cacho shot 67 to finish at four-over par 220.

As a team, Santa Clara finished fifth with a score of 887 (+23). The Broncos had the second best team score of the day (289).

Freshman Ronnald Monaco also rebounded from tied for 35th place to finish 14th overall. He was just one stroke behind Cacho.

Senior Jonathan Keane tied for 18th place at seven-over par 223, while Shaun Pienkos tied for 24th place at nine-over par 225. Tyler Ichikawa rounded out the Bronco competitors at 13-over par 230.

Winning the team championship was Virginia Commonwealth University, who finished six-over 870. Notre Dame placed second (876) and UNC Greensboro took third place. Individually, Will Bowman of UNC Greenboro held onto first place for all three days. He finished five-under 211 (67-71-73).
