Santa Clara Faces Rider In Final Game Of Orlando Classic Sunday Morning

Santa Clara Game Notes

On Sunday Santa Clara, 2-4, will play its final game at the Orlando Classic vs. Rider, 2-4. The 7:30 am Pacific game will be shown on ESPN3 with Tim Welsh and Rich Hollenberg making the call.  The SCU-Rider audio broadcast can also be heard on the school's website, SantaClaraBroncos.com, with Anthony Passarelli in his eighth year as the Voice of the Broncos. He will be joined on this trip by former Bronco center John Stege.

Santa Clara dropped a 66-44 decision to Rhode Island on Friday.  Rider lost 61-54 to Georgia Tech later in the day.  Rider, located in Lawrenceville, N.J., is led by Kevin Baggett.  He is in his third year at the helm.  In 2012-13, his first year as the head coach, Baggett was a finalist for two different National Coach of the Year Awards, the Ben Jobe Award and the Joe B. Hall Award when he led the team to 19 wins.

This will be the first meeting between the two teams.  Rider played in the 47th annual Cable Car Classic last year, but did not face Santa Clara.  The Broncs defeated Rice 97-93 in overtime, but then fell 87-70 in the championship game to North Dakota State.
