SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- The Santa Clara men's basketball team will be looking for its first win of the season Tuesday when it travels to Berkeley for the first time in 19 years to face the Golden Bears of Cal at Haas Pavilion. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
Santa Clara has played Cal on four occasions since earning a 59-57 win on Dec. 18, 1982 in Berkeley. Each of those games, however, were played at Santa Clara, the Oakland Coliseum or the Compaq Center at San Jose.
The Broncos are 0-1 on the year after dropping a heartbreaking 85-83 decision to Pacific in its season opener Saturday at the Leavey Center. The Broncos led by as many as 21 points in the first half before succumbing to Tiger guard Demetrius Jackson's 37-point outing, which included seven points in the final minute of the game.
Cal is 2-0 on the season after defeating Princeton and Eastern Washington in the BCA Classic at Haas Pavilion. The Golden Bears limited EWU to just 27 total points in Saturday's win that gave Cal the tournament's championship title.
Tickets are available to Tuesday's game by calling the Cal ticket office at 800/462-3277.
