Santa Clara broke open a close game with a 12-3 run midway through the second half. The Broncos went more than three minutes without a point late in the game as the Lions cut the lead to 66-60, but Ross and Bailey hit eight free throws in the final 1:10 to seal the win.
Kent Dennis had 17 points and six rebounds for Loyola Marymount (9-11, 2-4), while Keith Kincade and Robert Davis added 12 points apiece. The Lions were outrebounded 40-33, and they committed 17 turnovers.
