Greg Gonzalez is in his first season as the volunteer assistant coach for Santa Clara baseball.
Gonzalez, who was hired in July 2017, came to Santa Clara from Skyline College in San Bruno, California, where he was an assistant coach under head coach Dino Nomicos. While playing for Skyline in 2008 and 2009, Gonzalez won 22 games, twice leading the state in strikeouts and earning All-American honors twice.
In 2009, Gonzalez transferred to Fresno State and accumulated a 19-3 record over the 2010 and 2011 seasons. He earned All-Western Athletic Conference (WAC) accolades in both years while also throwing a no-hitter against Hawaii in 2010. Gonzalez was drafted by the San Diego Padres and played in their system for three years.
Gonzalez received his bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Fresno State and is working on his masters in kinesiology from St. Mary's College.
