SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara baseball announced the first member of its incoming recruiting class for the 2017-18 season, Jack Aldrich. The left-handed pitcher currently attends Oaks Christian High School in Oak Park, California.
For his career, Aldrich boasts a 4-2 record with one save over 53 innings pitched. He has struck out 40 batters while allowing 49 hits and only 16 walks for a 2.64 earned run average.
"Jack (Aldrich) is a very good athlete and helps to address a big need for us as a left-handed pitcher," associate head coach and recruiting coordinator Gabe Ribas said. "He has had lots of success in high school and with his club team and we feel that he has a chance to pitch big innings for us very early on in his career."
Aldrich, a 6-0, 190 pound lefty, helped guided his team to become 2016 Marmonte League Champions. The squad also advanced to the second round of the Division I playoffs. He earned 2016 All-Marmonte League second-team honors and he was a Perfect Game Underclass All-American honorable mention honoree in both 2015 and 2016. The Oak Park native was also recognized as a 2016 MLB Scouting Bureau Southwest Future All-Star.
"More than his athletic ability, Jack (Aldrich) is blessed with strong leadership skills that will serve him well at Santa Clara," Ribas said. "We couldn't be more excited to be announcing him as the first member of the 2017 recruiting class."
Our next future Bronco, Anthony Boetto, will be announced on Nov. 21.
