CORVALLIS, Ore./BERKELEY, Calif. — Santa Clara track & field continued its record-setting season over the weekend as Brennan Lagerstrom set the program's new top mark at 800 meters for the second time in as many competitions. Lagerstrom clocked a 1:52.55 at the Brutus Hamilton Challenge for the sixth program record by the men's team in the 2019 campaign.
The women's team competed at one of its toughest events of the season, the Oregon State High Performance. Janie Nabholz and Emma McCurry led the team at 1,500 meters and 5,000 meters, respectively, while Sarah King captured second place in her 5,000-meter section.
FROM THE COACHES
Head coach Felipe Montoro on the men: "Brennan Lagerstrom took advantage of a very competitive field and was able to close well over the final 200 meters for a new PR and school record. Spencer Fischer, Aditya Mohan and Connor Lehl also had great performances."
Associate head coach Pete Cushman on the women: "Emma McCurry, Noelani Obermeyer, Sarah King, and Hannah Rehm continue to make improvements.
