She joined the department as assistant athletics director and senior woman administrator before being promoted to associate athletic director.

Gustafson has overseen the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the Bronco Leadership program, as well as serving as the sport administrator for a variety of sports, including men’s and women’s cross country and track, women’s basketball, men’s and women’s rowing, men’s and women’s soccer and softball.

Hired in August 2007, she serves on various West Coast Conference and campus committees.

Her experience in collegiate athletics dates back to her time as an undergraduate at the University of Colorado. The former St. Francis (Mountain View) star earned a volleyball scholarship and played four seasons for the Buffaloes, while also working in the Colorado athletic department during that time.

After graduating from Colorado with a communication degree in 1995, Gustafson joined the women's volleyball staff at the University of Florida, where she served as an assistant coach from 1995-2000. Along with her coaching duties, she was also the staff's liaison with the school's compliance and marketing departments. The Gators reached the Final Four three times during Gustafson's time there and she coached two NCAA Academic All-Americans and seven AVCA All-Americans.

In 2000, Gustafson moved on to another highly-ranked volleyball program at the University of Nebraska.  She spent three years in Lincoln, helping the team win the 2000 national championship. As the top assistant for the Huskers, her responsibilities included on-court training, camps, overseeing the relationship with compliance, the medical staff and admissions, and serving as the lead recruiting coordinator. Six student-athletes earned Academic All-American honors and 10 earned AVCA All-American status during her time at Nebraska.

A native of San Jose, she and her husband Jon have two sons, Luke and Jake.
