After his successful career at Santa Clara, Dunton went on to join the Montreal Expos organization and play for two seasons in the minor leagues.

The native of Atherton, California, came to Santa Clara after a standout career at Menlo-Atherton High School. Dunton was inducted to the Menlo-Atherton Athletics Hall of Fame in 1996.
