BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Five players score two goals each to lead the Santa Clara University women's water polo team in an 11-4 victory over CS Hayward this afternoon, as part of the 2003 Western Women's Water Polo Association Championships, hosted by CS Bakersfield at the Hillman Aquatic Center.

The Broncos will take on sixth seed CS San Bernardino (21-14) on Sunday in a fight for fifth place. That match will take place at 11:15 a.m. Santa Clara, seeded fifth in this weekend's tournament, improves to 17-20 on the season, while CSH falls to 7-22.

Santa Clara led 5-2 at the half, and broke open the game with a five-goal third quarter.

"We had been counter-attacking them a lot through the first half," SCU head coach Keith Wilbur said. "I think they just got tired in the third and our efforts finally kicked in."

Freshmen Kathleen Hamm and Bryn Asher, seniors Kelley Mays and Elizabeth Glotzbach, and sophomore Katy Shumm scored two each. Senior Becky Hong added one score.

On Sunday, the seventh-place match will take place at 10 a.m., while the third-place team will be decided during a 12:30 p.m. match, and the title game will begin at 2 p.m.
