Water Polo Closes Home Season with Win

April 4, 2004

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University women's water polo team was led by Catherine Flynn's four goals as the team notched a 15-5 victory over Division III eighth-ranked UC Santa Cruz this afternoon at the Leavey Pool. The match closed the Broncos' home season, and their overall record improves to 16-15.

"This was a good all-around win for our team, where we saw contributions from everybody," head coach Keith Wilbur said post-match.

Alanna Simpkins added three goals, while two each were scored by Katy Shumm and Kellie Dunn. Bryn Asher, Danielle Mansfield, Courtney Titus and Erin Scollin added one tally apiece. Defensively, Anne Ginotti guarded the cage for the first half and registered three blocks. Kristin Barnes played the final two quarters and recorded four saves. Katie Radvanyi and Andrea Evans posted three and four steals, respectively.

The Broncos return to the pool next Saturday, visiting Cal Poly for a 2:30 p.m. match.
