SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - Santa Clara women's water polo lost two matches this afternoon at the East Field House Pool in Santa Cruz, falling to host UC Santa Cruz 7-3 and Claremont 11-7. The Broncos fall to 3-7 on the season.

Sophomore Becky Hong registered two goals in the team's first loss, while fellow sophomore Kelley Mays added the final Bronco goal. Senior Sarah Peterson posted five blocks to lead the Bronco's defensive effort in goal.

In the second game of the afternoon against Claremont, Hong, sophomore Carly Carpenter and junior Sarah Schmitt added two goals each while senior Kim Yost added one goal. Peterson posted nine blocks.

The Broncos remain on the road and head to Davis next weekend to face Redlands and UC Davis. The Saturday, March 3 contests will begin at 12:45 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.
