SAN JOSE, Calif. - Santa Clara women's water polo dropped its first two matches of the season, falling to San Jose State 14-2 and UC Santa Cruz 7-6 this afternoon at the Aquatics Center at San Jose State University.

Senior Kim Yost and sophomore Emily Abbot scored for Santa Clara against the Spartans, while junior Sarah Scmitt recorded three goals in the UC Santa Cruz game. Additionally, Yost, sophomore Becky Hong and senior Liz Schuricht scored one goal apiece against the Banana Slugs.

The Broncos open their home season against UC Davis on Saturday, Feb. 3. The match will begin at 3 p.m. at the Leavey Center pool.
