Broncos Finish Spartan Invite vs. No. 3 Cal and No. 13 UC Davis

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The Santa Clara University women's water polo team finished a challenging opening weekend, facing four ranked teams at the San Jose State Spartan Invite. On Sunday the Broncos dropped an 11-2 decision to No. 3 Cal and lost 13-8 to No. 13 UC Davis.

"We played some really good compeitiion this weekend," said Santa Clara head coach Keith Wilbur. "As team we know we get better playing against the best competition we can and the expereince this weekend, especially for our young players, is something we can build on. It's good preparation for our conference opener."

That conference opener will be next Saturday, February 5 when SCU plays Cal State Monterey Bay on the road. Following that game, SCU will then play Fresno Pacific in Monterey as well .
