STOCKTON, Calif. - One day after the Santa Clara women's water polo team's thrilling win at home, the Broncos could not carry that momentum into their game at University of Pacific Saturday afternoon, as they fell, 5-3. Taylor Harkins led the SCU offense with two goals and an assist. The sophomore driver also tallied two steals and drew a kick out.
Senior Claire Linney started in the cage for the second straight game, in place of injured goalie Wren White. The Bronco captain posted three blocks in the first half. In the field she had two steals and two kick outs drawn. Junior Meg Zimmerman took over goalie duties in the second half and tallied three blocks. The San Mateo, Calif. native drew three kick outs and a 5-meter penalty in the field.
The Broncos had a strong defensive game under the prowess of redshirt sophomore Rochelle Stowe, who led the Bronco defense with two steals.
"Rochelle played a lot of minutes today at 2-meter defender," said head coach Keith Wilbur. "She maintained the hard press for us and broke down Pacific's offensive attack really well."
