Santa Clara Travels to Santa Cruz to Close Out Regular Season

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara (16-11, 12-6 WWPA) will travel to Santa Cruz to take on UCSC (12-16, 4-9 WWPA) in their final match of the regular season. This will be the second meeting for the Broncos against Santa Cruz, with Santa Clara coming away victorious 14-5 the first time.
This past weekend, the Broncos had a tough slate of games against two top-ten opponents. On Saturday they fell 8-3 to No. 10 UC Davis and then 10-7 to No. 9 San Jose State on Sunday.
Rankings and Standings
Santa Clara maintained the No. 19 spot in the national rankings this week, making it four straight weeks for the Broncos in the top-20. And at 12-6 in the conference, the Broncos are currently in fourth place in the WWPA, with the third best overall winning percentage.
Zimmerman Notches Hat Trick
Known mostly for her ability to create scoring opportunities by drawing a team-high 30 kickouts this season, Meg Zimmerman decided to do some scoring of her own, scoring a hat trick against San Jose State. Up to that point in the season, Zimmerman had scored only seven on the year.
Miller, Lamb Closing in on Milestones
With one regular season game to go and the WWPA tournament still to play, Christie Miller is just three assists, two steals, and one kickout away from the 20/20/30/30 club: scoring 20 goals, recording 20 assists, 30 steals, and drawing 30 kickouts in a single season. Amy Lamb is just one goal away from the 40/40 club, recording 40 goals and 40 assists in a season.
