Next Week The Broncos will be heading to Santa Cruz for the annual Slugfest, a two day, four game event. Last year the team went 3-1 at Slugfest, defeating Colorado State, CS Bernardino, and CS East Bay, while falling to UC Davis 11-9.
Last Week Santa Clara played just one official game last week, defeating UC Santa Cruz 14-5. On Saturday, the current Broncos went up against former Broncos in the annual alumni game. The current players had the upper hand, winning the friendly match 9-3.
All-Around Game Amy Lamb had one of the best all-around games of the season against Santa Cruz, recording a hat trick, four assists, a steal, and two kickouts drawn. Her three goals in that game was almost half her season total. Lamb also leads the team with 15 assists.
Block Party Randahl Capurro has 97 blocks in less than nine full games this season. She has recorded double digit saves in seven of the team's nine games.
Two-end terrors Claire Linney and Christie Miller have been terrorizing teams from both ends of the pool this year. Both players are tied for the team lead in goals with 14 and both are also tied for the team lead in steals with nine. The each rank third and second on the team in kickouts drawn respectively as well.
Goodbye Malley Pool The game against Santa Cruz marked the final game that the women's water polo team will play in Malley Pool. Starting in March, renovations will begin on the Sullivan Aquatic Center which will feature a regulation length pool for the team to play their homes games in next season.
Receiving Votes Santa Clara continues to receive votes in the top-20 poll, remaining just two votes shy of cracking into the rankings for the second time this season. They are currently sixth in the WWPA, despite having the most conference wins, with four. Also, the team's four losses have come solely against top-20 opponents.
