Santa Clara, Calif. -- The Santa Clara women's water polo team will travel to Stanford this weekend to face No. 3 Stanford on Sunday, Feb. 3. When these two teams met last year, Stanford was the top team in the country and came out on top 18-2. The Broncos got a strong showing from then-freshman Meg Zimmerman who scored a goal and drew a 5-meter that led to the team's other goal.
Last week, Santa Clara started their season off with a bang, defeating their WWPA opponent Cal State East Bay 11-5 at home. Claire Linney had a hat trick and Emily Bonk and Christie Miller both scored multiple goals in the win. Goalie Randahl Capurro was excellent in goal, blocking 11 shots and notching an assist as well. Stanford will be playing in their first game of the season.
The game Sunday will be at Stanford's Avery Aquatic Center at 1 p.m.
