Women's Water Polo Defeats CS San Bernardino

LA JOLLA, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's water polo team defeated seventh seed CS San Bernardino 9-7 in a consolation semifinal match of the Women's Western Water Polo Association Tournament at Canyonview Pool. The Broncos improve to 11-20 with the victory.

Senior Kim Yost scored four goals in the victory, while sophomores Becky Hong and Kelley Mays added two each. Senior Liz Schuricht's score finishes the Bronco tally.

Santa Clara opened strong, scoring three goals in the first quarter while only allowing one. The Broncos went to halftime up 5-2 and lasted a CS San Bernardino comeback in the third as SCU was outscored 3-2 in the frame. Each team registered two goals in the final period.

The Broncos, seeded sixth in this week's action, will close their season against fifth-seeded UC Santa Cruz on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. for fifth place.
