LA JOLLA, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's water polo team fell to host and third-seeded UC San Diego 16-1 in a quarterfinal match of the Women's Western Water Polo Association Tournament at Canyonview Pool. The Broncos fall to 10-20 with the loss.
Bronco sophomore Elizabeth Glotzbach scored SCU's only goal of the afternoon, doing so in the first quarter as the Tritons opened a 4-1 lead en route to an 8-1 halftime edge.
In the third quarter, UC San Diego scored five more time and followed in the fourth period with three more scores.
The Broncos, seeded sixth in this week's action, will face seventh-seeded CS San Bernardino on Saturday at 11 a.m.
The event runs through Sunday and the winner will receive an automatic bid to the 2001 NCAA Championships, hosted by Stanford University on May 12-13. The second through fourth-place finishers will be invited to participate in the North Coast Section Tournament.
