SANTA CLARA, Calif. -

Santa Clara volleyball head coach Jon Wallace announced the signing of Four student-athletes to national letters of intent this week. The four players joining the Broncos in 2009 are Kat Douglas, Kayla Lommori, Samantha Peters and Lexi Williamson.

"The 2009 recruiting class is one of the best classes that we have ever had," said Wallace. "We have an incredible combination of athleticism, size and skill entering our program. Kat and Lexi are very similar with their great all-around skills, while Kayla and Sam will bring the explosiveness and power to the court."

Kat Douglas

Kat Douglas
Woodside, Calif. (Woodside HS)
OH - 6-1 - Vision Volleyball Club
Coach Wallace on Douglas: "Kat can do anything and everything on the court. She is a great all-around player with a very high skill level. Kat is a tireless worker both on and off the court."

A 6-1 outside hitter, Douglas is No. 16 on Prep Volleyball's Senior Ace list. She has helped Woodside to consecutive Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division titles. As a senior heading into Central Coast Section playoffs, she compiled 523 kills, 254 digs, 53 aces, 32 blocks and a 40.4 hitting percentage. Douglas is also a two-time PAL-Bay Player of the Year.

Kayla Lommori

Coach Wallace on Lommori: "Kayla is a great all-around athlete. She has helped her basketball and volleyball teams to multiple state championships, as well as being a discus and shot putter on the track team. Kayla is an explosive volleyball player with great net skills. She possesses one of the most powerful arms in her class. Kayla hits the ball hard and has a devastating jump serve."

Lommori, a 6-1 outside hitter, joins the Broncos from Yerington High School in Nevada. Arguably the best all-around player in the state of Nevada, she helped the Lions to their third straight NIAA Class 3A State Championship. Named to the All-Sierra Nevada first team, Lommori set state career records with 2,015 kills and 546 blocks. She finished the season with 579 kills, 110 blocks and 106 aces.

Samantha Peters

Coach Wallace on Peters: "Sam will come in and compete for a starting middle spot. She is very quick and has a very high volleyball IQ."

Peters helped the Bruins to their first Class 5A State Championship since 1998 this season as Cherry Creek went undefeated with a 31-0 record. For the season, she compiled 214 kills, 47 aces, 116 blocks with a 51.6 hitting percentage. For her efforts, Peters was named to the all-tournament team.

Lexi Williamson

OH - 6-1 - Wave Volleyball Club
Coach Wallace on Williamson: "Lexi is a very physical and experienced player. She possesses skills that will allow her to play all six rotations."

A 2008 Junior Olympic All-American, Williamson ranks as a top-50 Prep Volleyball Senior Ace and helped her team to the 2008 State Championship. She has participated in three Junior Olympics (2006-08) and has been named to the all-tournament team each summer. Williamson is a two-time All-Section CIF and Western League first team honoree. As a junior she was named her team's best offensive player, leading Woodside with 301 kills. She posted a career-high 33 kills against Corona Del Mar on Nov. 20, 2007. That same season, Williamson earned Union Tribune All-Academic team honors. As a sophomore, her team named her MVP of the varsity squad. She also earned Division III CIF Player of the Year accolades.
