Volleyball Finishes Off USF In Three
Led by senior Taylor Milton, who had 17 kills, hitting .484 with five aces, Santa Clara took care of San Francisco 3-0 in the Leavey Center on Thursday night. Set scores were 25-18, 25-22 and 26-24. Santa Clara is 21-9 and 11-6 in the WCC. USF is 12-17 and 5-12 in the WCC.

Volleyball Hosts USF on Thursday
Santa Clara volleyball hosts one home match this week and it's a big one! The Broncos welcome Bay Area rival, San Francisco, at 6 pm on Thurs., Nov. 20 in the Leavey Center. Santa Clara will be looking to avenge its 3-0 loss to the Dons on Sept. 26 in San Francisco.

No. 25 Volleyball Drops 3-1 Match To Pepperdine
Battling all day, No. 25 Santa Clara lost 3-1 to Pepperdine Saturday afternoon in the Leavey Center. Set scores were 20-25, 23-25, 25-22 and 22-25. Santa Clara is 20-9 and 10-7 in the WCC. Pepperdine is 11-16 and 6-9 in the WCC.

No. 25 Volleyball Falls At Home To LMU
After Santa Clara defeated then-No. 24 LMU on Oct. 18, the Broncos knew the Lions would be looking for revenge. LMU got it as the Lions defeated SCU 3-0 on Thursday night. Set scores were 20-25, 21-25 and 25-21. No. 25 Santa Clara is 20-8 and 10-5 in the WCC and LMU is 21-5 and 9-5 in the WCC.

SAAC has nominated the October Broncos of the Month! For a quick recap, our September winners were Brittany Ambrose and Andrew Papenfus. Brittany: Scored four game-winning goals this season. Her hard work off the field has been recognized by her team. She has been a key player this season. She works hard, is determined to do well, and wants to win. She is a great model of a Bronco Athlete. (WOMEN'S SOCCER) Andrew: Went through brain surgery and still had a good attitude. Once he came back, he was ready to start working to get back onto the court. Everyone has noticed this dedication and wanted to recognize him for it. (MEN'S BASKETBALL) Our October winners are our volleyball team and Kurt Ruegg. Volleyball Team: Had a weekend sweep against ranked teams. They've been playing really well all season. Their team chemistry seems better and everyone is focused. It's great to see that a whole team is working its hardest to achieve the ultimate goal. (VOLLEYBALL) Kurt Ruegg: Broke the school record for the 8k on October 18 at the Bronco Invite and broke it again on November 1st, at the West Coast Conference. He's a red shirt from Harvard that walked onto our team this year. He has been our number one men's runner consistently all season. Volleyball Ranked No. 25 In This Week's AVCA Poll
Winning its last four matches in the West Coast Conference, including its 20th match at Portland on Nov. 8, Santa Clara jumped into the AVCA top 25 this week. They are ranked No. 25. Returning home for its final four regular season matches of the year, No. 25 Santa Clara hosts LMU on Thurs., Nov. 13 at 6 pm and then Pepperdine at 1 pm on Sat., Nov. 15. Winning its last four matches in the West Coast Conference, including its 20th match at Portland on Nov. 8, Santa Clara jumped into the AVCA top 25 this week. They are ranked No. 25.

Volleyball Wins 20th Match Of The Season At Portland
Winning its fourth straight match, the Santa Clara volleyball team won 3-0 at Portland on Saturday afternoon, collecting its 20th victory of the season. Set scores were 25-16, 25-11 and 25-14. Santa Clara is 20-7 and 10-4 in the WCC and Portland falls to 6-18 and 1-12 in the WCC.

Volleyball Wins Five-Set Match At Gonzaga
Having four hitters score double digit kills, including Lacey Maas who hit .800, the Broncos took a 2-0 lead at Gonzaga and hung on to win the two and a half hour match, 3-2, in Spokane Thursday night. Set scores were 25-19, 28-26, 21-25, 22-25 and 15-12. The Broncos are 4-2 in five-set matches this season.

Coming off a successful weekend where Santa Clara defeated the top team teams in the West Coast Conference, the Broncos will put that behind them as they travel to Gonzaga for a 6 pm match on Nov. 6 and then a 1 pm match at Portland on Nov. 8.

On this week's edition of the Bronco Weekly Sports Wrap, co-hosts Denzel Johnson from the men's basketball team and Nici Gilday from the women's basketball team give a quick update on the latest Bronco sports news. This edition features interviews, highlights, pictures and bloopers that you won't want to miss! EyeBronco first gets an inside look to the Volleyball team’s very successful two win weekend. On Thursday night, the team had a huge win over No. 11 BYU in three straight sets. Then they battled through a five set match to beat top-ranked San Diego on Saturday. Volleyball has beaten four top 25 teams this season. It was the first time a West Coast Conference team has swept both BYU and San Diego in the same weekend since BYU joined the league three years ago. Yannick Atanga spoke to Player of the Week Nikki Hess about the weekend. Women’s soccer had two games in Buck Shaw this weekend and walked away with two conference wins. They defeated Gonzaga on Friday night, 3-0, behind the goals from Sofia Huerta and Mariana Galvan. Then on Sunday, Huerta was able to score a last minute goal to lift the Broncos over Portland, 1-0. Huerta leads the team with 15 goals on the season. After the Portland match, EyeBronco heard from Huerta and goalkeeper Andi Tostanoski about the final weekends of the season. This Wrap also features EyeBronco interviews over the past week with Kelly Ryan and Kurt Reugg from cross country. They hosted the WCC Championships at Baylands Park on Saturday. The team totaled nine PR runs, including a school record of 23:52 by senior Kurt Ruegg in the men's 8k race. Ruegg finished 16th overall while the team came in 5th. Santa Clara volleyball’s Nikki Hess was on fire from start to finish all weekend, helping the Broncos defeat the West Coast Conference’s top two teams in No. 11 BYU and No. 30 San Diego. For her efforts, she was named the WCC Player of the Week on Monday.

Battling all day, Santa Clara defeated No. 30 San Diego on Saturday afternoon in the Leavey Center. Volleyball Falls In Three At Pacific
Santa Clara never got going off the bus in Stockton on Saturday afternoon as the Pacific Tigers rallied to win the match 3-0. Santa Clara defeated UOP at home 3-0 earlier this season. Set scores were 13-25, 17-25 and 15-25. Santa Clara is 16-7 and 6-4 in the WCC. Pacific is 18-5 and 7-3 in the WCC.

Volleyball Upsets No. 24 LMU In Los Angeles
With Sabrina Clayton and Nikki Hess both collecting 19 kills each, the Santa Clara volleyball team defeated No. 24 LMU in Los Angeles Saturday afternoon, giving the Lions just their third defeat in 20 matches this season. Set scores were 25-21, 19-25, 9-25, 25-18 and 16-14. It is Santa Clara’s second road win vs. a ranked WCC team this year, adding to SCU’s 3-1 win at No. 24 San Diego on Oct. 2.

Volleyball Falls In Five Sets To Gonzaga
Going hard for five sets, Gonzaga got the best of Santa Clara in five sets Friday night at the Leavey Center. Set scores were 25-22, 25-18, 15-25, 14-25 and 18-16. The Broncos move to 13-6 and 3-3 in the WCC and Gonzaga is 13-4 and 4-2 in the WCC. It was Gonzaga’s second straight five set match as they won 3-2 at USF on Thursday.

Playing its second top 20 team of the day, Santa Clara fell in three sets at No. 1 Stanford on Saturday night. Santa Clara is 8-2 and Stanford is 7-0. Stanford won the Invitational with the Broncos finishing as the runner-up. Set scores were 25-14, 25-15 and 25-11.

Volleyball Dispatches Of No. 20 Duke In 3; Play At No. 1 Stanford Tonight
Playing two top 20 teams in one day, Santa Clara dispatched of the first one, No. 20 Duke in three sets on Saturday morning at the Leavey Center. Game scores were 25-22, 25-22. Santa Clara is 8-1 and Duke is 5-3. It is Santa Clara’s first win over a top 20 team since it defeated then-No. 18 Pepperdine 3-2 on 9/29/12. It is their fourth win over a top 25 team in the last two years. Santa Clara’s last win over a non-conference team vs. No. 16 Kansas State in the 2008 NCAA tournament first round on 12-5-08. (3-2).

Volleyball Hosts Penn and No. 20 Duke Before Traveling To No. 1 Stanford This Weekend
On the road for their first seven matches, the Broncos (6-1) will return home Fri., Sept. 12 for a 7 pm match vs. Penn (2-2) and then host No. 20 Duke (5-1) on Sat., Sept. 13 at 11 am. The Broncos will then travel up I-280 on Saturday night to face the new No. 1 in college volleyball, Stanford (4-0), at 7 pm in Palo Alto. Santa Clara's last time facing the No. 1 team was also at Stanford, when the Broncos fell 3-0 in in the opening round of the NCAA tournament in 2007 (Nov. 30, 2007). They also fell 3-0 to No. 1 Nebraska in the Final Four in 2005 as the only two matches vs. No. 1s. Nebraska went on to win the NCAA title that year as well.

Milton Named MVP, Mead All-Tournament As Volleyball Wins Tournament With Win Over Host-Hofstra

Volleyball Opens 2014 By Sweeping St. Francis Brooklyn
Santa Clara started off the 2014 season on Friday with a 3-0 victory over St. Francis Brooklyn in Long Island, N.Y. The Broncos are 1-0 and SFU is 0-2. Santa Clara moves on to play Lafayette on Saturday at 12 pm and then host-Hofstra to close out the tournament at 4:30 pm (both are Pacific time).

Bronco Volleyball Opens 2014 Season With East Coast Swing
The Santa Clara volleyball team hits the road for a seven-game stretch to open the 2014 season. The Broncos will play three matches in Long Island, N.Y. to open the year. They will then travel to West Point, N.Y. to play Army. Their 10-day trip will end in Boston with three matches at Harvard.

EYEBRONCO: Mystery Excursion Day with Volleyball
The Bronco Volleyball coaching staff planned a mystery excursion day for the team as a break from double days and a fun team bonding activity. The women found themselves at the Google offices in San Francisco and heard four former Bronco volleyball players speak about their experiences at Santa Clara and how they transitioned into their roles at Google. After lunch, the team drove down Lombard Street and walked on the Golden Gate Bridge. Hear from EyeBronco reporters Madison Dutra and Mary Shepherd about their day! Bronco Volleyball Reports Friday
The Santa Clara volleyball team opens its 2014 season on the East Coast in Long Island, N.Y., but prior to departing, the Broncos will spend 17 days practicing, bonding and getting to know each other better on and off the court. Volleyball Releases 2014 Schedule
Looking to get back to the NCAA Tournament, Santa Clara volleyball announced its schedule Thursday. The season kicks off Aug. 29 at Hofstra where the Broncos will play four games in two days as part of a tournament. West Coast Conference play begins Sept. 26 at San Francisco with the conference home opener coming four days later.

Bronco Sand Defeats Cal 3-2 To Close Out Season
Santa Clara wrapped up its sand season on April 18 with a 3-2 victory at Cal. The Broncos finished their second season of sand with a 7-8 record, falling six times to top 10 teams.

Bronco Sand Looks Back At Successful Second Season
Playing a number of the top teams in the country, Santa Clara ended its sand season with a 7-8 record this year. With six of its losses to top 10 nationally-ranked teams, the Broncos collected wins vs. Cal, Stanford and USF in their second-season of play.
