Volleyball Falls in 3 to Saint Mary's

Saint Mary's defeated Santa Clara in straight-sets, 25-22, 25-21 and 25-14 on Saturday night at McKeon Pavilion.  Santa Clara will play its last match of the season at USF on Fri., Nov. 19 at 7 pm.

Santa Clara is 14-13 and 5-8.  The Gaels are 18-7 and 10-2.

Santa Clara hit .289 with 38 kills (14 e, 83 att.).  They collected 35 assists, 26 digs, one aces and four team blocks.  Saint Mary's hit .477 with 48 kills (7 e, 86 att.).  The Gaels collected 29 digs, 46 assists, seven aces and four team blocks.

Individually Lexi Williamson led the Broncos with 10 kills (6 e, 23 att.), hitting .174.  Dana Knudsen collected nine kills (2 e, 15 att.), hitting .467.  Tanay Schmidt hit .500 with six kills (0 e, 12 att.).  Emily Burke scored 16 assists and six digs.  Alexandra Palmer had 17 assists.  

Leading the charge for the Gaels were sophomores Lauren Corp and Gabby Jolly and freshmanJordan Shaw, all three threw down a match-high 10 kills each.  Jolly finished the night with 10 kills on 15 swings with zero errors, for a .667 hitting percentage, she also added three total blocks.  Corp tallied 10 kills on 17 attempts for a .529 hitting percentage, with two assists and six digs.  Shaw finished the night with her 10 kills on 20 swings for a .450 hitting percentage.

Santa Clara hit .414 with 16 kills (4 e, 29 att.) in the first set. The Broncos hit .333 with 14 kills (5 e, 27 att.).  They finished the third set by hitting .111 with eight kills (5 e, 27 att.).

Saint Mary's hit .452 with 15 kills (1 e, 31 att.) in the first set.  Saint Mary's hit .500 with 17 kills (3 e, 28 att.).  Saint Mary's hit .481 with 16 kills (3 e, 27 att.).
