The Santa Clara volleyball team will host DIG PINK on Fri., Oct. 22 at 6 pm vs. rival USF. With Santa Clara wearing pink during the match, all proceeds collected from the DIG PINK match will be donated to a local Breast Cancer Care Center. Santa Clara is encouraging all fans to make a donation at the match at the Leavey Center on Friday; and of course, to wear pink!
The Bronco volleyball team and coaches have all pledged to collect at least $250 each. "We will collect $4,500 on our own and hope our friends, families and fans will help us raising more money for this important cause," said Bronco head coach Jon Wallace. "By us working to raise money, we are helping enhance the experience at a treatment center. Statistics show every one of our players and coaches will be effected by breast cancer in their lifetime, whether it's them personally or someone they know."
"Helping a cancer treatment center locally with our donation aids our volleyball team in thinking globally on how to solve problems," added Wallace. "They understand by collecting money and playing in the DIG PINK! match vs. USF they are helping those with a real need."
If fans can't attend the match, they can mail a check made out to Santa Clara University with DIG PINK in the memo to the following address: SCU Athletics; 500 El Camino Real; Santa Clara, CA 95053.
