Davigeadono and Knudsen Named to All-WCC Volleyball Team

Nov. 25, 2009

Bronco senior Lindsy Davigeadono was named to the All-WCC First Team by the league's volleyball coaches and freshman-redshirt Dana Knudsen was named to the WCC All-Freshman team and also to the All-WCC Honorable Mention team. It is the 12th year in a row Santa Clara has had at least one person on the All-WCC First Team.

Davigeadono led the team with 300 kills, hit .296 and finished tied for first on the team with .88 bpg. She led the team in league matches by hitting .342, scoring 188 kills and 44 total blocks. She had double-digit kills in 19 matches this season, including 12 of 14 times in WCC play. She had a season-high 20 kills at LMU. She was a WCC Honorable Mention selection as the team's setter last year. Davigeadono finished at No. 6 in career blocks assists with 274, No. 7 in career total blocks with 28 and No. 8 in career assists with 1,592.

"It's great to see Lindsy receive first-team honors as this is a very prestigious group this year. She is very deserving," said Bronco head coach Jon Wallace. "She posted great numbers and competed night in and night out. We are really happy for her and sad to see her go."

Knudsen was third on the team with 255 kills, hitting a second-best .328 on the team. She was second in total blocks with 94, averaging .84 bpg. She had double-digit kills in 16 matches this year, including a career-high 16 at Saint Mary's and vs. Pepperdine. In league matches she was also third in kills with 126 and second in team blocks with .79 bpg.

"Dana made great strides this year as a volleyball player and it's nice to see her recognized by the coaches in the league as deserving to be named both to the honorable mention team and all-freshman," said Wallace. "Her hitting really improved this season and we look to continue to work hard with her in the off-season to help her be an even better player next year."

"I am really happy for these two," said Wallace. "I am very surprised that Katherine Douglas didn't make the All-WCC freshman team as she played in every match for this year and was second on the team in kills. She also was deserving."
