Santa Clara defeated host-Cal Poly tonight 3-1 to push its record to 7-4 on the year. Cal Poly falls to 3-9. Game scores were 25-16, 24-26, 25-19 and 25-14.
Santa Clara will play Seattle tomorrow at 4:30 pm before returning home to the Mission Campus.
"Dana, Lexi and Tanya were great tonight," said Bronco head coach Jon Wallace. "I am really happy with our effort tonight. We passed a lot better tonight so we were really able to get our middles engaged. Lexi had some big swings on the left and it was really helpful to us."
Santa Clara hit .377 vs. Cal Poly, including .444 in the first game, .342 in the second game, .200 in the third game and a sparkling .632 in the fourth game. Cal Poly hit .159, including .097 in the first game, .302 in the second game, .172 in the third game and a sparkling .000 in the fourth game.
Santa Clara had six team blocks to Cal Poly's own four. Santa Clara collected 55 digs and eight aces to Cal Polys own 40 digs and seven aces. Both teams had nine service errors.
Individually, Santa Clara had three players in double figures. Lindsy Davigeadono had 11 kills, hitting .421; Dana Knudsen hit .500 with 11 kills; and Lexi Williamson hit .522 with 11 kills. Middle block Tanya Schmidt hit a season-high .818 with nine kills.
