Santa Clara Post-match quotes
Head coach Jon Wallace
"I think you saw two pretty similar teams out there on the court tonight, and there were a couple balls here, a couple balls there that made the difference in the match. I thought San Jose State played very, very consistent at the right time, when they needed to.
"I think both teams gave up runs tonight. We gave up runs in game two, game four, and then again at the end of game five, and those runs were the difference.
"I think we had a lot of opportunities. We out dug San Jose State 71-55, but we couldn't convert on those balls that we dug. We made errors or didn't put them in the right spot to get points, and that was a big difference.
"Our girls played hard, and they did everything we asked them to as far as the scouting. Jami Bari had an outstanding night, and Becky Potter had a great night. We're going to miss Jami, that's for sure, but I think Becky Potter is somebody who can get us where we want to go in the future."
Senior outside hitter Jami Bari
"Its been an amazing four years. I grew a lot as a person both on the court and off the court. I wouldn't change a second of it for the world - it was an amazing experience and I'll remember it for the rest of my life.
"This program is definitely on the way up. Since Jon (Head Coach Wallace) got here, he has brought so much positive energy into the gym, and I don't know one person who wouldn't love to play for Jon."
San Jose State Post-match quotes
Head coach Craig Choate
"One of our goals this season was to get to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. We accomplished that goal, so anything on top of that is just icing on the cake. We knew we had a chance to win against Santa Clara when the bracket was announced."
Senior setter Savannah Smith
"We did not play to our potential in game one (a 30-17 Santa Clara win). We were nervous but were able to shake our nerves in game two (a 30-25 San Jose State win)."
