SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Senior outside hitter Ynez Carrasco was named an All-Pacific Region team member, the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced this afternoon.
Additionally, Carrasco and senior middle blocker Brook Terhune were named Players of the Month for November, released today by the West Coast Conference.
Carrasco became only the third Bronco to earn All-Region honors, joining Jamie Elson in 1996 and former teammate Laura Echolds in 1998.
She finished the season with a team-high 537 kills a 5.07 per-game mark. Defensively, she posted 437 digs, good for 4.12 per game. The Visalia native is the all-time career leader in kills in Santa Clara recordbooks, and is fifth in digs.
Carrasco and Terhune led the Broncos to seven victories in eight matches in November, including a five-game victory over Pepperdine to lead Santa Clara to its first WCC title in seven years. The Broncos then defeated Sacramento State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the second round for only the second time in school history.
Terhune posted 100 kills for the month, averaging 3.23 per game. The Santa Rosa native amassed only 21 errors in 197 attempts to hit .401 for the month, appearing in all 31 games. She added seven block solos and 35 block assists for a 1.35 per game mark.
Carrasco saw action in 28 games, posting 141 kills to average 5.04 per game. Already the WCC Player and Defender of the Year, she added 123 digs for a 4.39 mark per game. Both averages lead the team. She also added 20 blocks, or 0.71 per game.
