Carrasco Named Asics/Volleyball Magazine All-American

Feb. 15, 2001

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara senior outside hitter Ynez Carrasco was named an honorable mention All-American by Volleyball magazine for the 2000 season, as announced last week.

Carrasco, who was named the West Coast Conference's Player and Defender of the Year, finished the 2000 season with a team-high 537 kills a 5.07 per-game mark. Defensively, she posted 437 digs, good for 4.12 per game. The Visalia native is the all-time career leader in kills in Santa Clara recordbooks, and is fifth in digs. In December, she was named an All-Pacific Region team member by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, becoming only the third Bronco to earn such honors.

She is joined by Loyola Marymount's Sarah McFarland as the only WCC representatives on the several the Asics/Volleyball magazine list.
